We Were Seeds – Janalee Robison, Digital Painting, 2021
My inspiration for this painting began with the quote “They Tried to Bury Us, They Didn’t Know We Were Seeds” by the Greek poet Dinos Christianopoulos. These powerful words started to form imagery in my mind of a vulnerable figure pushed into the dark earth, only to transform into the creator of change and healing. It can be noted that the Protea flower symbolizes courage and transformation, and the begonia flower is a symbol of connection and harmonious communication.
In times when we wonder what we’re doing right, we can always look to the birds. They remind us to chase the sun through every season, our natural source of energy and warmth. They care for their flock, feeding from their own mouths until it’s lovingly time to nudge out of the nest. They travel in groups and look out for each other, ensuring a safe journey in numbers wherever they may freely fly. As we enter the month of transitions, may we see their presence and company as a simply natural reminder that we too have our place in the cycle of the seasons… no matter where we are in a nonlinear journey. And may we, as creative women, greet every day with a song in our hearts to share as the sun shines brighter.

The month of May was filled with joy for us at Virtuosa Society as we began a project with one of our favorite ways to support fellow creative women… a collaboration!
Whether you’re new to our blog or a routine reader, our mission at Virtuosa Society is simply to uplift women in every way we can. We like to slip a little love note into your inbox every week with fresh inspiration for living with the seasons – a pace much more suited to the life of a creative woman than the 9-to-5 grind.
This current collaboration has been in the works for quite some time, however the season of Winter always welcomes rest, relaxation, and repose. This Spring, we’re happily back at work with the birds and the bees to create a seasonal planner for creative women just like you! Maybe you know the struggle of finding just the right planner to fit your needs and style, or perhaps the sole struggle of keeping a planner to begin with… it’s real, and you’re not alone. We aim to change that and create just the right tool to fit your needs and lifestyle.
The beauty of this collaboration truly comes from the artwork and kind spirit of Mindy Carpenter, owner of Carpe Diem Papers. Nostalgic art meets vintage style in each of her creations, and her original paintings will be featured in this planner as a lovely reminder of the beauty of each season. Mindy is an incredible artist and friend, and you can follow her here on Instagram.
After opening up applications earlier this month for a graphic designer, we are now working closely on the layout based on your answers from our survey. The grand unveiling will be later this year so we can all be ready to use a brand new planner in 2026! Follow us on Instagram to stay updated.

If living with the seasons is new to you, you’re in the right place.
Every Friday we share some fresh creative inspiration from the simple and cyclical patterns of the natural world around us. We have found this pace of living to be much more suited to the nonlinear journey of creative women, especially with our susceptibility to burnout. Being loud and proud of our abilities and accomplishments as women is often frowned upon, yet the earth rejoices when birds sing and flowers bloom. We know our worth, and instead of trying to fit into a world built by and for men, we instead look to Mother Nature for guidance and fulfillment.
In May we focused on the monthly theme of Tending to our metaphorical gardens of creativity: planting seeds, routinely watering and weeding, and pacing the care of our inner ecosystems in a way that sustains our energy instead of diminishing it.
We talked about learning to love the mud leftover from April showers, and the importance of appreciating the messier parts of life. The sustainability of cycles as a whole was also an important topic – like upcycling and recycling, especially when it comes to our material belongings.
Our inner ecosystems are also part of a larger ecosystem, an important reminder that you are never alone in cleaning up a mess and that so many others are ready to grow alongside you. The power of community always helps to ensure that the grass is indeed greener when it’s being tended.
We would love for you to be part of our community here at Virtuosa Society. Click here to catch up on our blog posts from May, and leave a comment if something inspires you! We would love to know how living with the cycle of the seasons has positively impacted your life as a creative woman on a nonlinear journey.

A new season always comes with a new seasonal event!
True to our goal to make as many of our offerings as accessible as possible, YOU are invited to participate in our Summer Solstice event this year.
Wherever you are, we invite you to have a Day of Play with us on Friday, June 20th! The Summer season always invokes playful energy that grants freedom to explore and try new things without taking ourselves so seriously. What better way to celebrate than to get out and play?
Whether you plan a day at the pool, brunch and shopping, hiking, trying a new workout class, or maybe just making some good old-fashioned mud pies, we would love to hear how you plan to spend your Day of Play. Click here to tell us all about it and we’ll share your plans in a future blog post! Your playful ideas might just inspire more people to get out and do the same.
We look forward to giving you more weekly seasonal inspiration as we transition from Spring into Summer next month. We see you staying kind and vigilant with your gardens of creativity, and know that we are always looking forward to growing alongside you.
