Happy Friday, Virtuosas!
While Katie is a busy bee putting all of the beautiful final touches on Maestra Masterclass preparation, we thought we would take a break from the norm and peek into the paranormal. ‘Tis the season, after all – the leaves are changing, the nights are cooling down, and the Halloween decor is displayed in full grandeur as an ever-enticing distraction from the shopping list.
This week, we are highlighting some fabulous female creatives and their unique celebrations of the spooky season. If you’re also a fan of Halloween festivities, leave a comment and tell us how you’re celebrating!

Geo Rutherford is an artist and educator who transitioned into the publishing world after a career dedicated to art education. She currently serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is the Visual Arts Director at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Geo’s fascination with lakes, initially sparked by her artistic practice, gained widespread attention when she began sharing on TikTok. Her engaging videos, which delve into the science behind phenomena like unusual ice formations and drifting islands, quickly captivated a global audience. (source)
Geo’s videos skyrocketed in popularity after beginning her Spooky Lake Month series in October 2020, where she posts a video every day of the month that spotlights “haunted hydrology” around the world including sinkholes, secluded beaches, and man-made structures that can date back hundreds of years. Living on a spooky lake herself, Geo shares her knowledge with a creepy twist that continues to inspire thousands of people to learn more about aquatic ecosystems, little-known dangers around various bodies of water, and pieces of history preserved in their depths.

If you’re a fan of paranormal thrills, you may have heard of Juliana Fay of Intrigue Theater. Alongside her husband, illusionist Sean Paul, she regularly performs behind the stained glass windows of a historic church in Eureka Springs, AR. Juli’s creative gifts range from writing, dancing, costume design, spontaneous levitation, and communicating with spirits from the other side. Juli and Sean have performed on America’s Got Talent, Penn and Teller’s Fool Us (twice!), at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, in various venues in Branson, MO, and Juli herself was invited to showcase her ghostly gifts on Masters of Illusion.
Intrigue Theater just last night performed the 2024 debut of their revamped Paranormal Experiments show during the month of October, where they call upon audience members to experience past life regression, alien experiments, and attempt to communicate with haunted dolls from an abandoned asylum, who seem to have a message of their own.
You can follow Intrigue Theater here on Facebook, peruse their library of videos here on YouTube, and explore more at IntrigueTheater.com.

Maggie Mae founded Blossom Beauty nearly 10 years ago after relocating from Colorado to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Blossom specializes in soft, romantic, and natural wedding day hair and makeup.
This month, however, Maggie is getting ready for the one time of year when her team of beauty artists is dedicated to making you look your worst. The upcoming Eureka Springs Zombie Crawl attracts thousands of visitors from around the country, raising money and collecting food donations for the community as visitors gather in full character. Maggie and the Blossom team will be doing zombie makeup all day for the event, whether you’re a survivor who narrowly escaped the horde, or a tragically turned undead.
Maggie’s art truly knows no bounds! If you find yourself in Eureka Springs on Saturday, October 26th, make sure you stop by Basin Spring Park on Spring St and get your gory glam on. Latex wounds are optional, but they sure are fun. And be sure to follow Maggie on Instagram for your hair and makeup inspiration, as well as professional advice for wedding beauty planning, and healthy skin and hair.
There will be more to come about the Eureka Springs Zombie crawl, too. Spooky season can’t possibly be encompassed in one blog post, and this town has welcomed tourists to its haunted streets and hotels for many years. Stay tuned, ghoulies…
No matter how you decide to celebrate this time of year, we hope your creativity is flourishing at every turn. We wish you a delightful October, however spooky it may be!
