Seasons Greetings, Virtuosas! We are so happy to check in with some inspiration for this holiday season. Fall is full of vibrant colors and cozy company, while the holidays tend to bring some awkward or uncomfortable moments that seem to be inevitable every year. We are always learning and growing, and navigating those special extended family relationships are an important reminder of both how far we have come and how we can meet others on a level ground, even if it’s only once a year.
If you find yourself nervous about certain conversations or company among the festivities, we’re here for you. Here’s a list of prompts that are great for both your journal and the dinner table. Whether you’re looking for lighthearted fun or a deeper connection, use these to help conversations fill your cup with community, or giggles… or both!

- See who can come up with the best idea for the ugliest Christmas sweater.
- How many different pies can you name in 60 seconds?
- If you were an elf in Santa’s workshop, what would be your dream vacation?
- Pretend you’re an Australian tour guide and everything at the table is a special sight for tourists. Pick one dish and describe how you would approach it like an animal in the wild. (Personally, I think the green beans are at the bottom of the food chain. They never see me coming.)
PRO TIP: If a less than desirable topic comes up (like politics or a point of conflict), create a safe word or phrase that means you’re changing the subject – like “Sleighbells!” or gobbling like a turkey.

- Describe a setback that you used your creativity to overcome this year.
- What is your favorite tradition and why? (This does not have to be specific to the holidays!)
- Tell the story of when someone supported and uplifted you in the most unexpected way.
- Share a goal you achieved this year that makes you proud.

- What is your favorite way to show up for others?
- Which neighborhood or store has the best holiday decor?
- Can you guess what everyone in the room wants from Santa this year?
- If you could do anything for anyone as a holiday surprise, who would you choose and what would you do?
We see you showing up for yourself and others year after year, and we are always cheering you on. May this holiday season be warm and cozy in all of the right ways, and may your virtuosity continue to shine in everything you do. Happy Holidays!
