The inspiration that best serves us will never be on a pedestal. As creative women, comparing ourselves to others has only ever resulted in division and detriment to our universal truth: where women gather, we have the power to elevate the whole of society.
Of course we are capable of achieving great things that will change the world, empower our communities, and shape history as we know it. We know these efforts are never done by one woman alone, but are uplifted and accelerated by each and every woman who contributes to a shared effort. We have long fought to take up space in our rightful places as leaders, researchers, designers, performers, writers, visionaries, and every other role we were simply born to fill.
With this great power comes great responsibility, especially when it comes to our own personal well-being. It is imperative to fill our lives with things and people that bring us joy, encourage our peace, and nourish our growth.
If every woman had a nickel for every time they were accused of being dramatic, I probably would not be writing to you today about how important it is to romanticize your everyday life! Personally, I would invest all those nickels right back into myself and my “me” time: a fluffy bathrobe, extra hair appointments, and an ever-growing library of podcasts.
These things are obviously accessible without being compensated for hurtful misconceptions, which is exactly what we’re exploring today: walking alongside what inspires you instead of putting it on a pedestal, because by embracing it and growing to embody it, you inspire the women around you.
Think of the area in your life where you always take your time, live in the moment and always appreciate yourself for putting in the effort. This is personal, not professional, and is accessible to you at any given time. Maybe you’re a fellow true crime podcast fan, or love doing your nails, or have a knack for quickly matching every pair of socks while you’re folding the laundry. Whatever this everyday routine is for you, make the most of it from this day forward.

Every source of joy in our lives is like a flower to the bees: an invitation to stop, take some for yourself, and then take even more to spread around. Romanticizing parts of our lives that normally feel normal will begin to make them feel extraordinary, and soon we set out to find more to love about life with a refreshing new perspective, with each reflection of joy beginning the cycle anew.
We have known this ever since we were young, savouring every moment of freedom in imagination and channeling it in our favorite ways that have grown with us, from playing tag to completing a marathon. It’s no secret that no matter how much time we spend at a desk, some cute stationery always makes it a little more fun. Wearing clothes that make us confident help us walk a little taller. Even the “fake it ‘til you make it” type of confidence that often precedes a presentation or performance proves that the pedestal has always been an illusion. Everything that inspires us is within our grasp and we are capable of embodying it.
Living our best lives down to every personalized detail is how we pave every way for the women of the future. The young girls of today who enjoy dance classes and collecting keychains will soon be the leaders of tomorrow (who are still allowed to enjoy dancing and accessories). Just as we are capable of achieving incredible things, we are also allowed to enjoy our everyday lives, the moments that never need to prove their worth… because neither do we.
