Seasonal Perspective

May The Flowers Be Within You

When you think of a cycle, what comes to mind?

We so often find ourselves in cycles of fear and self-destruction that we need to be reminded that not all cycles have negative effects. Realizing that you’re functioning within one is not inherently a negative thing.

Yes, it can be scary and difficult when it’s a cycle that doesn’t serve us. It appears much easier to choose the familiar path of fear – the one most traveled with a lifelong pattern of specific steps that will always lead to the same place. We confuse its familiarity with safety, at least knowing that we can anticipate heartache instead of being blindsided by it.

The cycle of the seasons, like nature herself, offers safety in a far more ruthless and reassuring way: she demands we embrace growth, abundance, and rest in equal parts, maintaining entire ecosystems for support and collaboration so long as we honor their balance.

When you grow a garden, no matter how big or small, you are affecting the environment around you. The soil must be ripe with nutrients, the deer shooed away to another snacking spot. The bees simply won’t resist, as they are a delicate yet powerful part of the ecosystem, soldiering away so every flower has an equal chance to keep blooming year after year and even spread their seeds.

When you tend to your garden of creativity, you naturally elevate the creative energy of those around you. You move differently about your day, ensuring your decisions truly serve you in the best way as you work to reach your goals. When your perspective is loyally aimed at personal growth, you become as a flower facing the sun: a friend to every honeybee, and a reason for anyone to be grateful for the beauty of life with even just a passing glance.

As we thrive now in the heart of the Spring season, remember too that these ecosystems exist for everyone to thrive within the balance. Mother Nature will never tell the honeybees to avoid that particular garden – their goal is to reach every flower they possibly can.

So if you see a friend or neighbor whose creative garden may be struggling to grow, offer them a tool from your shed. If you are confident in your own growth, make sure those around you are confident in theirs and honor the balance that nature maintains with her loving cycle: we are all deserving of an equal role in the cycles of seasons and life.

Likewise, if you are struggling to maintain your garden, don’t hesitate to ask for a trowel or watering can. You don’t have to go far to find another beautiful garden with a pair of willing hands to help you out.
