“Good daily habits lead to good days, good weeks, good years.”
– Becky Hammon
Overthinking is fertilized by inaction. It threatens to choke our seeds, robbing them of potential. The time we spend questioning ourselves and worrying about things that are out of our control is better spent in your garden of creativity.
No action is too small when it comes to nourishing growth. Habits take time to build, and lasting results require patient investment. That’s the beauty of the mess of overthinking – as long as you’re stepping outside of your own head and moving with intention, you can shift your focus to where it needs to be.
Consider your goals for the year as seeds that have been planted, and right now they’re loving the rainy season. They are soaking up life-sustaining water and nutrients from the earth around them as fuel to burst with bloom. Tending to your garden means taking action to nourish your creative goals in the same way you would care for a seed – encouraging yourself to stay rooted, weeding out anything unneeded, and knowing that even the smallest leaf unfolding is a sign of steady growth.
Tips for tending your garden…
Serve your space as it serves you. If you’re not in the mental space to create, then lovingly make sure your creating space is clean and tidy.
Embrace your pace. If you’re not in the mental space to take on a big project, start with the details. Make a simple list of small steps that can be taken one at a time. That in itself is an action, so keep the momentum going by checking just one off the list.
Take a walk. A flourishing garden is a result of an entire ecosystem, and a creative goal is upheld by your health and balance. Get some fresh air and plenty of water… because we’re not so different from plants ourselves, honestly.
Those April showers always make sure that things will get messy though. It’s Mother Nature’s friendly reminder that not only is it ok to be messy, sometimes it’s for the best.

It’s the perfect time of year to play in the mud, ladies. The next time you find yourself in a mess of overthinking, and even the smallest action to nourish your creativity feels like moving through sludge, remember that you’re doing exactly what you need to do. We were meant to grow like seeds, not work like machines.
So much of our overthinking as women is a result of perceived and expected responsibilities. There will ALWAYS be something to clean and errands to run, and everyday efforts that often go unseen. So what would happen if you worked on moving through the mud instead? What would happen if you learned to accept the mess instead of being at odds with it?
Hear us out: Maybe you don’t have to clean it up, at least not right away.
Maybe you need to make a mud pie, or throw mud balls instead. Maybe you should make messy handprints on the sidewalk for a little bit, or draw a picture in the mud that will eventually be washed away forever.
There will always be a garden of creativity within you, and a time in the seasonal cycle for rain. Learning to appreciate the mess will always be a part of growth. You will still blossom beautifully in time.

Today is your LAST CHANCE to apply for the graphic design position for our next project! We’re looking for a woman with a keen eye for journal layouts and a passion for spreading inspiration.
