“The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this:
A human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive.”
– Pearl S. Buck
Burnout is inevitable, and it is not our enemy.
We as women inherently know that it is unsustainable at best to function with the ways of the world. We are taught to envy others and force ourselves into a mold instead of being comfortable in our own skin. We are expected to present ourselves as all-encompassing caretakers, effortless emotional laborers, cooks that could feed an army… but don’t brag about it, and certainly don’t try to step up and be a leader in your field of excellence.
We as women work every living moment to be seen, heard, and valued in a male-dominated world. That, in fact, is why Virtuosa Society exists today.
The flame of creativity in our hearts can never be snuffed, yet outside forces will certainly try. Earning a living wage in itself can drive even the most ambitious of us to find a quiet place to recover. So what do we do when burnout is inevitable?
We must begin with living by two simple truths: that we require rest, and that the cycle of nature is the inherent model for the nonlinear existence of creativity.
The seasonal mindset we share with you every week becomes more intentional with each message in your inbox. The cycle of nature is also inevitable, and it has the balance we need to thrive by giving us the Winter season of rest and reflection.
Women have the power to elevate the whole of society – especially when we work on that shared goal together.
While Spring is here with her own lessons, she encourages us to pace ourselves properly so that our seeds can break through the soil and reach for the sun. Right now, we are guided by the warmth that is steadily settling in before the Summer Solstice, forming habits that are sustainable and nourishing to our creative drive.

This is our ultimate goal for our current planner collaboration project – not to avoid burning out at all costs, but to integrate a season of rest to sustain the unique pace with which we stride through each year. This planner will be a tool to help guide you, wherever your journey may lead, and remind you that the cycle of the seasons will always turn in your favor!
We will never stop investing in your unique creative gifts that will make the world a better place for everyone.
After all, there’s a reason Mother Nature is a woman. She knows better than any of us how powerful we are, our potential for exponential growth, and how to live in a way that fosters every creative gift like a precious seed in the garden. She moves in cyclical ways to boost production, however personal or professional we aim to be, so that Spring and Summer are full of energy and Fall is filled with abundance before we rest once again in the Winter.
Those seeds of creativity will be breaking through the soil any day now. So how has your pacing been this Spring, beautiful? In what ways have you been sustaining your garden of creativity after a season of rest?
